Health & Nutrition with Helen
I’m a local GP and passionate advocate of lifestyle medicine, holding a diploma from the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. Lifestyle medicine is broadly the prevention and treatment of disease using diet, exercise, sleep, stress reduction and community. However, in those who aren’t in need of a doctor, lifestyle medicine practices can also really enhance your overall health and give you more energy and enjoyment out of life, and so are relevant to all, children and adults alike.
The changes people can make to how they live give positive side effects, unlike many drugs that are more traditionally prescribed. I am excited to be involved with Hello Outdoors as it’s contributing to a number of these pillars for health.
How I can help you...
I can offer private 1-1 sessions that focus on a particular concern with recommendations of changes to make in the above areas of lifestyle medicine (e.g. for weight loss, depression, diabetes, inflammatory diseases, gut issues etc).
I hope to do small group courses looking at the pillars in more detail, and giving an understanding of how the way we live affects our hormones and health. I can teach how to ferment in small groups; fermented foods and drinks being excellent for gut health, as well as inexpensive.
Additionally I can walk groups or individuals through health resets to kick start weight loss and reduce inflammation, including a 2 week use of a continuous glucose monitor to improve glucose levels and gain an understanding of how certain foods and practices affect blood sugar, especially important in diabetics and pre-diabetics.
Come and learn how to kickstart improvements in your lifestyle and notice the benefits within days!
